About Us
Dene Community School is a successful, popular and improving school, widely recognised as a centre of excellence and a truly inclusive community school. We are proud of the improvements to our results at GCSE, but also ensure that all students’ needs are met.
The school encourages life-long learning and provides a clear path to further study. It also helps students develop their personal skills and qualities of character.
We are justifiably proud of our close partnership with local businesses, partner primary schools and five other secondary schools in the Federation of East Durham schools. The Federation works to strengthen links with East Durham College.
We aim to play a key role in the regeneration of east Peterlee and Horden through collaboration and partnership.
The school was inspected by Ofsted in November 2012 and received a "Requires Improvement" report. The full report can be viewed here.
Our successful bid to the National Lottery Board for £1.5m to build a new School and Community Sports Hall on our site is another indication of the local and national confidence in our school. This facility is used extensively seven days a week by local sport and dance groups.
