Dene Community School of Technology

Dene is a Specialist School of Technology and as such we specialise and excel in Maths, Science, Information Technology and Design Technology.

The school is now the most improved school in County Durham. We topped the League Tables in East Durham in 2007-2008.

We are a successful, popular and improving school, widely recognised as a centre of excellence and a truly inclusive community school. We are proud of the improvements to our results at both Key Stages, but also ensure that all students’ needs are met.

The school encourages life long learning and provides a clear path to further study, and helps students develop their personal skills and qualities of character.

We are justifiably proud of our close partnership with local businesses, Primary school Partner Schools and

five other secondary schools in the Federation of East Durham schools.

We aim to play a key role in the regeneration of east Peterlee and Horden through collaboration and partnership

The school was inspected by Ofsted in December 2007 and received a satisfactory report. The full report can be accessed here.

Our successful bid to the National Lottery Board for £1.5m to build a new School and Community Sports Hall on our site is another indication of the local and national confidence in our school.

The school is part of the County BSF programme and work is currently underway to look at new building designs.
